Happy New Year
Welcome to 2006. There are plenty of resolutions I could have made last night, but let's just all try to be better people this year. Yesterday was nice -- we basically stayed home and I cooked throughout the day. At 11:35 we watched a little bit of Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year. It's great the progress that he's made at rehabilitation after his stroke, but like watching my dad, it kind of made me too emotional to watch him struggling. We turned over to watching New Year at the Needle or something, which was awesome. The fireworks sucked but the show itself was very enjoyable. Richard and I kissed at midnight and finished watching the show... then went to bed like the old people we are.
On the agenda for today: leftovers; pick through beans for baked beans; hope that the organic box that didn't get delivered yesterday, got delivered today; more cleaning; bills.
Yesterday's cooking fest was as follows:
Lunch: Broiled marked down Kalbi flank steak, broiled Cooking Light recipe citrus glazed chicken breast, rice
Snack: Raw veggies and onion dip
Dinner: Awful cocktail meatballs -- the grape jelly/chili sauce kind, made with cornflakes and the marked down ground dark turkey. First of all, the grape jelly/chili sauce was bleh: overly sweet and completely lacking in spices. Second, I really do not like dark meat turkey, but given the outcome of the dish overall, I'm glad I only wasted $1.99 on the meat :)
Pigs in a blanket -- had a tube of crescent rolls I wanted to use up, and used whole Healthy Choice hotdogs. Results? Meh. The lowfat hotdogs got rubbery on the exposed ends, but overall not hideous.
Chips and onion dip: Baked Lays chips and onion dip and baby carrots.
And later on we had some Martinelli's sparkling grape apple juice -- reliving my family's Welch's Sparkling Grape juice tradition. All in all not a bad day.
