Sick
Been feeling sick since this weekend. Red eye, cold symptoms, and later sinus congestion. I tried taking it easy throughout the weekend, but I'm tired of just sitting around. So, tonight I took a hot bath, and felt a lot better. I decided to give the fitness room a shot, and did the elliptical for 15 minutes. 15 grueling minutes. But, for the first time in days, my headache is gone, yay!
My nails are finally long enough for a manicure -- girly things are seeming to cheer me up, so I'm willing to spend a small amount of money persuing them right now. The agenda will be nails and brows (finally). No idea where I'm going to get them done, but I'll decide within the next few days.

Elliptical
15 minutes, 1.21 miles. Trying to get back into the exercise because I've been sick.

Quiet weekend
Spent today doing laundry and cooking. Still more laundry to do tomorrow, but I got a good start today. Otherwise I was a little frustrated and disappointed by the quilting books. I haven't found a pattern that I particularly like, but perhaps some of the fabrics that I picked up can make up for a less than spectacular design.
This week I need to take the sewing machine in to be serviced -- hopefully professionals can get the snapped needle out of there. While I'm at the sewing/vac store, I want to look at folding sewing cabinets. That would fit my space a lot better than just getting a folding table.

Not a time to shop
The normally excellent QFC was rage inspiring when I found that the raw fryer chicken in a bag had been packed with the pudding mixes. And guess what leaked? Yeah. I was pissed. I'll call them on Monday when I'm less pissed off.
But in better news, I was able to enjoy the full moon tonight... and the fall weather. Yes, it's really fall here. On Friday I saw some trees with turning leaves, and the little nip in the air at night is lovely. It seems like forever since I've felt it. Time is still not concrete here, and everything still feels somewhat like a dream. Everything flows together and by us... or maybe we're just flowing with it.

Fucking Lane Bryant
This is the second time they have overcharged me for something. Fortunately the first time I caught it before leaving the checkout. This time I didn't. $25 plus the inconvenience of having to schedule a trip back there. I'm done. Their clothes are overpriced, and their service is poor.

Shopping and quilting
I'm tired. Went shopping with Leslie today -- used up the lane bryant promotional crap that i "earned" when I dropped $300 there last month. For $450 total, I have some very decent additions to my wardrobe including 5 pairs of dressy pants, 4 bras, 4 or 5 button down shirts, a couple of sweaters and a few other items.
Went to Bed Bath and Beyond and spent $90 on a new iron, a bacon rack for the microwave, a weird ice cream scoop, and cat and dog treats.
Quilt books arrived today... I stil haven't settled on a pattern yet. I won two more books on ebay today (the last of them) and will pick from there, I hope.

Seizures and red rover
An eventful day. Gbic had a seizure (first one since late August of 2004, and the first since coming off phenobarbital in early February). It wasn't particularly worse than any of her other two... she did puke but i'd taken her outside because i thought she needed to go for a walk. Talked her through it and pet her lots until it was over. Richard was with me so I had him go in and grab my phone. I called the vet's and told them she'd had a seizure and we were bringing her in. That was at 1:45pm. We got to the vet's at around 2 and I sat waiting in the front for 15 minutes. Then they shoved us in an examining room until 3:10. Wheee. One of the vet's finally came in, and checked Gbic's reflexes etc. and we talked about possible causes (Epilepsy, brain tumor). The vet was surprised that Gbic hadn't had any seizures while on the pheno before (as it's only supposed to surpress and lengthen the time between seizures, not stop them all together), and said we could start her up on that again today. I was pretty calm throughout everything -- I think I've finally reached that place that my mom was able to find when Heather was having seizures. Cry later if you must, but during, just suck it up and be as comforting as possible.
So, back on an every 12 hr schedule. I think we're going to aim for 7:30am and 7:30pm. Liveable, but still eh.
In happier news, we appear to have started a trend. Today Sarah decided she might like to move out here -- she's already booked a flight for Columbus Day weekend to come out and visit and see the area. Later tonight Harliv messaged me and we were catching up (impending Daddyhood -- congrats!) and he and Param and the new addition want to move up this way after the baby is born. They haven't decided between here and the Portland area, but that's extremely cool :)

A late start...
Means no start at all apparently. Since we weren't going to be driving 3 hours to go anywhere, I decided to sleep in. And take the time to make breakfast. And just do an afternoon trip. While I was making breakfast (granted at 1 in the afternoon), I got a call from the fuckers at the boarding place. They said they had a reservation for gbic to come stay but she's not there. And I said we were going to bring her by later this afternoon. And I was informed that they closed at 1, and it was already 1:10. Oh. Well then I guess she's not staying there.
I need to find a great boarding place like Old Mill was. This is not one of them. They were extremely rude when I needed to board the cats after they flew out and before we drove out, but I decided to try them again. Obviously I've been rewarded for my renewed faith :P Yes, I know that this was my fault for not checking their hours (or remembering them incorrectly -- I was sure that they closed at 1pm on *Sunday*). But perhaps the time to call me is at 12:30 when I still have time to get my dog there for boarding. Just a thought.

It's raining
A lot. Note to self: Remember Jacket from now on. I'm soaked because gbic doesn't like doing her business in the rain. It's going to be a long winter :) The rain is changing our plans I think for tomorrow. We still haven't decided if we want to go to Mt. Rainier, up to Vancouver, BC or a day trip somewhere else. I'm leaning towards taking the Edmonds/Kingston ferry and going to see a little town called Poulsbo. It should be a shorter drive, and less weather dependent (I kind of wanted to see things from Mt. Rainier).
I've been having the urge to sew Christmas items. I never have the time when Christmas rolls around -- there's too much pressure to bake things then. So, I'd like to find a small fabric shop on my journey, and pick up some interesting fabric and start at it all.

6:30am Calls
Suck. I guess I haven't updated all my business contacts on the fact that I'm on West Coast time now :) I'll be heading back to sleep shortly, but I would like to mention how pissed off I am that eBay has not updated my feedback score and it has been 24 hours. Annoying.

Weekend fun
Okay, time for a real update :) Richard and I are going up to Mt. Rainier on Saturday. We were going to go with Adam and Leslie but Adam's got a lot of coursework to do and a lot of reading to do for work, so it's just the two of us. We're going to board Gbic for the day, and drive on down to the big mountain. Not sure what we'll see, or even what the weather will be like. I'll bring jackets for sure, and maybe do some layering. It will be nice to get out of the immediate area (not that there's anything wrong with the immediate area).
Work is tedious, but not unbearable. I'm feeling a lot less boxed in here with the new space.
And we still like living around here. It's nice, and it feels like home.

I'm updating my damn blog
Hi, it's been a while. Lots of mundane stuff going on. Ebaying, hanging out, cleaning house, putting more stuff away, shopping, cooking. No exercising though. I suck. Gotta get back into that.

Out of it
While I've been pretty on top of work things, home life has gone to hell. The kitchen needs to be cleaned, and several other things need to be done. I fell out of the cooking habit (getting back into that this weekend), and we have not been exercising. Fortunately we've got a long weekend coming up, so we are going to try to focus on getting back on track.
Had dinner with Leslie and Adam tonight -- Azteca has redeemed itself. We stopped by the Microsoft Store, and I got the three Northwest gardening books that I was drooling over when we came out here to get married in May. We detoured through the Microsoft Museum, which was actually much more fun than the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle. :) Then we did the hanging out thing, and we were all sleepy so we called it an early night.
Of course we're still up and it's almost 2am. The plan was to come home, go grocery shopping and go to sleep. Routers interfered with that and threw the schedule off, so we didn't leave until a bit after midnight. Then I spent an hour in the new QFC. I was the only customer and it was absolutely fabulous. Prices are a bit high on some items, but it's defintely comparable to Wegman's on most levels. They don't have quite the extensive prepared foods section, but then again that was a little ridiculous in Wegman's anyway :) Beautiful store -- nice and bright yet natural looking.
Which brings me to what I was able to find there. Heirloom tomatoes. Fresh basil. Fresh mozzerella. I made an amazing agrodolce plate. I sliced a small orange tomato, placed half the slices around one side of the plate, half around the other. I sliced some fresh mozzerella and wove it between the one side of tomatoes. Then I plucked three lovely basil leaves, and tucked them on top of the mozzerella. A sprinkle of sea salt, a grind of fresh pepper, the smallest dot of olive oil on top of each, and a good splash of my 10 year balsamic from Trader Joe's. On the naked tomatoes, a sprinkling of sugar, mainly for texture. Next time I'd use demerrara. Absolutely divine contrasts.

I think I saw...
the Scorpius constellation tonight. Wow. I've not been anywhere dark enough to see much more than Orion and Ursa Major for a really long time.
